John C. Beuerlein

Chairman and CIO



John Beuerlein is Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Marquette Asset Management.  He manages the firm’s investment research activities and chairs the Investment Committee.  He also serves as the Chief Economist of Marquette Financial Companies, Inc. (“MFC”), and is a member of the Pohlad Family Investment Committee.  Prior to forming Marquette Asset Management, John was the President of Apocalypse Corporation, a wholly-owned registered investment advisor subsidiary of MFC that managed assets of institutional clients.  John joined MFC in 2000 when Apocalypse Corporation was purchased by MFC.

John worked for Apocalypse since 1983 as Portfolio Manager, Investment Strategist, Vice President and President. During his time at Apocalypse, John developed and implemented equity and fixed-income strategies for a diverse group of clients including wealthy individuals, philanthropic foundations, religious communities, banks, and retirement plans of Fortune 500 companies. An intense study of the Federal Reserve and its monetary policy development is the underlying basis for most of these investment strategies. John entered the field of investment management in 1979 when he joined Alabama Investment Managers, a privately held investment management firm.

John earned a M.S. degree from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California and a B.S. degree with highest honors from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. He is on the investment advisory boards for the Dixon Group and The Dixon Foundation of Birmingham, Alabama. Additionally, John is on the board and chairman of the investment committee of the Jeremiah Program in Minneapolis / St. Paul, on the board and chairman of the investment committee of the Catholic Community Foundation, a member of the Board of Overseers for the Hill Museum and Manuscript Library of St. John’s University, a member of the Board of Advisors to the Center for Catholic Studies at the University of St. Thomas, and a member of the finance committee of the Church of St. Patrick in Edina, Minnesota.
